Canterbury & Dover Castle

Last weekend we decided to be wild and drove down to Canterbury for the night to celebrate our friend Pete's impending birthday. It was a definite last minute excursion and the boys did all the planning - I was a little anxious about how it was going to turn out - but they did their best to impress and the trip turned out to be a success! So Friday after work Rosie, Liebe, Pete, Jenny, Chafin and I all piled into our station wagon (it's true...we are cool enough to pull off the station wagon...) and headed to Canterbury! Chafin and Pete found a pet friendly hotel right outside of the Canterbury Cathedral (which is, by the way, beautiful) so Rosie and Liebe got to partake in all the fun as well. Friday night we took advantage of the nightlife that Canterbury has to offer - on Saturday morning we all got up and explored the cathedral before heading off to Dover! Saturday wound up being an absolutley spectacular day (by English standards) - moderate temperatures, blue skies and sunshine *gasp*!!! The white cliffs of Dover were breathtaking and Dover Castle was very cool - we got in free as we are members of the British Heritage Society...yes, we are that fancy. Rosie and Liebe said Dover Castle was the favorite part of the trip for them since they got to run all over the place. After we had our fill of castles and coastline we packed up and headed back home for a relaxing Saturday night. It was a quick trip, but a lot of fun.
